Session Start: Sat Jan 15 12:36:30 2005 Well, you are in the Dreaming... Where there are now five moons in the sky. Hmmm... five of us.... hmm. ... and there is a silver path going off into the distance from the Dreamflower, which wasn't there before. The path, I mean, not the Dreamflower. Ok, path..got it, yup. * KenKen looks around. "Well, I think it's trying to tell us something, Lassie." * Garland is apparently Lassie, as he responds with, "Seems like it." ... and way, way off in the distance, actually on the silver path, you might be able to see something if your eyes are good. You can all roll perception difficulty 9 unless you have acute vision or similar. [just perception?] Yes. [Awww, failed.] Hmmm... glasses... I think I need some. No successes. [1 success!] Tell me your successes. Remember to subtract from the difficulty if you have acute vision. [BOTCH!] [Two successes] [Ahh! KenKen destroys the thing we were to see!] Okay, this brings up a point. What do you think about maybe all doing all rolling in your private boxes with me, so that when a character botches, the others don't know. [KK's sight is so bad, it makes the rest of our sight worse.] Okay, back to the game. I'm giving results in private boxes. So, guys, I guess we follow the silver Path, huh? *** KK, you are sure you see a really gorgeous dagger, jewel encrusted hilt, about a hundred feet to the right of the dreamflower OOH. Off the path, or still in the clearing? Of course off the path. You botched. You really believe it is there. It is SHINY. *** Garland, off in the distance you see on the silver path four characters. They are not together. [That's all I can make out? Not if they look threatening at all?] They look more like stick figures. Two are together, in front. Behind them, maybe three hundred yards away, are another two, on horseback. *** Hold on... Do you guys seem them up ahead? * Garland points up the path. See what? See who? Where? When? * Garland squints, looking. "Looks like four of 'em... can't really make them out. Two are together... then there's another couple pretty far behind them." Why? Are they people? [ST, my window. :)] * Garland shrugs, "I dunno, from this range they just look like stick people..." Well, in THIS place they might be! The far two look like they're on horseback, too... * Garland doesn't like this oooone bit. *** Oh, sorry, I didn't see that in the main window. Okay, so you see two figures way, way off in the distance, apparently wearing black and silver. With five moons, all full, you'd get enough light to see this. Behind them, maybe three hundred yards away, are another two, on horseback. These two are wearing clothes that are the mirror images of each other. Their horses are black. Out of curiousity, are the people moving at all? If so, which way? They are moving away from you. Thanks. ^^ Are you at the rear of the group that are on the path? Mm, I imagine I would have been a little further to the front than that - taken a few steps forward to look at the people, of nothing else. So probably second, if Garland insists on being first. *** * Elyria says, "They're wearing silver and black, the front two. The back pair are riding black horses - they mirror each other. The riders, I mean, not the horses." * Garland arches an eyebrow. "Silver and Black?" Aren't silver and black colours we have seen before? Colours as in 'family colours'? I should imagine. They're not uncommon hues. Don't bad guys usually wear black? * KenKen goes to the edge of the silver path and seems to be pondering something, squinting thoughtfully. "Hey, Bunny, do you have any fishing equiptment?" * Garland ignores KK's pooka-ing, "... weren't there silver and black twins we heard about? ... -bad- twins?" * Bunny fishes through her pockets. "I, um, have thread...? But needles can't really be bent..." "Because, like, the BROOCH I found was important, so I figure that knife over there could be." * Garland looks around, "What knife??" * KenKen points off the silver path! What knife? None of you can see the knife. But KK seems very certain it is there. * Garland moves over to the edge of the path, looking around carefully. "... where?" * KenKen points over. "There. There, to the left of where you're looking." [ST, check private box, please.] * Garland looks to the RIGHT of where he's looking first, then the left. "... I don't see a knife, KenKen." * Bunny tries peering to the left?? Nope, me neither. * Elyria nods. "I don't see one either." [Could it be... the pooka is making things up?? ... dun dun duuuuun.] "How can you do that? The hilt is coated in JELLY!" Wel, here, use my bo to pull it towards you. * KenKen stomps his foot, frustrated. "Just, don't you think it could be important? And it's obviously too close for a bo to work, Flora..." He points again, with some irritation. How can it be TOO close? Just reach down and push it towards the path? "Because it's all the way over HERE." "Yeah, but none of us can -see- it. Things off the silver path aren't always things you want to be touching..." * Flora while reaching for her bo, bumps her BINOCULARS in her pack *** Your binoculars are at the bottom of your backpack. You brought a lot of stuff. Cookies, clothes, food, that sort of thing. Thanks. Roll to see how they've fared at the bottom of your pack. The resistance number is 10 for getting broken (because they're made to be used in tough conditions. (Yes, six is hard!) But for blurry, the resistance will be 3, unless you have both caps on. Would you? roll what? yes, I would keep them capped when stored. Basic traveller procedure! Okay, roll intelligence + streetwise/survival, diff 6 to see if both are capped. nope, no successes ok, so you didn't cap either, because if you did one you would have done the other. OK, so now I have to roll to see how bad they are? So now roll for smeared or dusty, their number being 3 and your dice having to do with your luck. I'd say you could roll perception + alertness difficulty 6+3-1 because you do tend to be lucky. I mean, just roll perception, sorry. four successes...aaahhh, no! reroll.. Sorry. reroll with only four dice is a BOTCH! Kay, so when you use it on the figures, you will see only a blur, but if you try to use it where KK is pointing, you will see the dagger. *** Um, we can always... come back for it, Sir Kenken? * KenKen looks wistful. "I...guess..." Hey, wait a minute! I can help us see those people! *digs out binoculars* * Garland turns to Flora happily. "... Flora, I could kiss you." * Flora looks at Garland with a quirky smile as she digss for them. Damn! The caps came off in my pack! "... what?" * Bunny makes the puffy-cheek jealous face for a minute, then thinks better of it and goes back to digging through her apron for SOMETHING. Well, I don't know how or why, but the caps came of the lenses...see? [Garland will kiss Bunny if she knits a pair of binoculars...] I don't know how much damage has been done. [ST, I try to see the strangers through them] [ [CAN DO THAT! ... Have you seen her crafts scores??]] "So... what? We can't use them?" Frowning. * Flora is other-boxing Well, this is weird... I can't see anything but a blur down the path, but I CAN see the dagger! "SEE?" "Alright, where do you see it?" Are you all actually on the silver path? [I am.] Yeah, through the binoculars, I see a knife where you told us there is one. [In FRONT. Eh heh.] * KenKen is, but at the very edge. "What does it look like, Flora?" [I would assume I am.] [Well, strictly speaking, I haven't stepped onto the path yet, as it was just created.] * Bunny is on the path, though a little at the edge, as she was trying to see what Kenken was talking about Yeah, it's right there *Flora, not yet on the path, walks towards the knife* [not sure of the distance, ST, but I assume it is not that far away?] You saw it about a hundred feet away. It's got jewels in thehilt. * Garland is still looking for this knife, getting frustrated 'cos he can't see it. * Bunny looks around to see if anyone is paying attention to her. >.> It's got jewels in the hilt, Garland. * Flora walks about a hundred feet, reaches down to pick something up * Garland lifts eyebrows, "Well, that makes a bit more sense than jelly..." "Isn't that what I *said*?" "Actually... no." * Garland follows Flora to see what she's doing. Suddenly, Flora isn't there. "DAMNIT!" * Garland calls her name loudly. * KenKen looks around, startled. o.o [St, I assume private box is in order?] At least, I should say, some of you will think she is not there. Roll perception + alertness difficulty 6. Results in private boxes. *** Kenken, You will definitely see Flora and the dagger. You don't need to roll. *** Also, four successes on per + alertness. You only know that you are very certain of what you saw. *** [2 successes.] You definitely think Flora has disappeared. *** "What's the problem?" * Garland heads to the spot she disappeared, looking around. "Where the hell did she go??" * Flora 's voice can be heard: "What's the matter, GArland?" * KenKen looks at Garland as if he's crazy. "... where -are- you??" To Flora. "I'm right here, doofus! Right in front of you!" [ST, My box...] * Garland ... reaches out to see if he can feel her. [My bad, gang. I am NOT where I said I was.] *** Right. Now, Flora, you are indeed where you were which is a hundred feet away from the Dreamflower off the silver path. But, it is as if a gauzy curtain has swept between you and the others. You can see them, but that curtain was NOT there before. It's like that. You can hear them. They can't hear you. What do you want to do now? OK, so I didn't cross-interpret KenKen properly, and the knife I -saw?- through the binoculars is actually way off the path. So am I, now. Is there actually a knife here? Or, more to the point, do I BELIEVE there is a knife here? Yes, I am not sure what is real, now. Yup. There actually is a stick there that you see as a knife. OK, I will pick up the stick as if it were a knife, call out to the party that I have the knife, and try to get back to them. I guess you will have to tell them what they perceive. You will call out but only KK will act as if he heard you, and possibly Bunny. *** And I got 3 successes, 1 of them was a 10. I rerolled that, and got a 9. To see Flora in this state requires many successes. Okay, so I don't see her. Got it. Right. So keep on looking, and we'll add successes. When you get tired of looking, or distracted, you will stop rolling. Okay? Okay, bunny WOULD step off the path at this point to start looking for flora, though. Should I put that in the main window, or wait for FLora? Thank you for asking in THIS box. Okay, if you want to step off the path to start looking, it makes sense, becuase with the successes you've already had you maybe got just a wisp of a vision of her. Okay, so, should I wait for Flora to post in the main window, or just put in there that bunny steps off the path, and then continue rolling? No, just carry on. You're Bunny, right? Remember how you acted when you got the horn. You're pretty independent, I think, for a youngster. But then, you're a boggan. Okay, I reroll 10's I get for sucesses, right? Theoretically, only if part of your dice pool was an area in which you have a specialty, and the specialty was what you used. But go ahead. Who's picky? Okay, in that case, 4 sucesses. d00d, 6 more successes. WOW. Okay, you see where she is. *** [OK, I'm not where I said I was, before. I am farther away and you may or may not be able to hear me should I try to speak to you. Wait while I figure out my situation, please.] * Bunny steps off the path and starts looking around for Flora. * KenKen looks shocked. "Bunny! Bunny, be careful!" * Garland is too far away to grab Bunny, but shouts after her. "Bunny! Where are you going??" *** What do you do? You've stepped off the path. Are you just standing there, or did you move in a direction that was where you sensed before that Flora might be? I'm moving in the direction I think I see Flora, I wanna get TO her. Okay, you will be successful almost immediately. She is there, right in front of you. But there is a kind of gauzy curtain between the two of you. And you see perfectly well that she is holding a stick, not a knife. If you look back...do you? Sure, Bunny would look back to yell that Flora is right here :) Well, you will see another of those gauzy curtains, but you still can try yelling. They will not hear you, and so don't post that in the main box, okay? I mean to say, some will not hear you, and some might. Okay. :) Would flora hear bunny? Nope. Okies ^__^ Hmm, can they even SEE me? (Like, should I post something like *Bunny turns back and yells something at the group, but no sound reaches them" or whatnot? Good question. I think you should post it here, and let me work out who hears. Okay. ^^ * Bunny turns back to the group, yelling "Flora's right here! I found her!" One moment. I need them to roll. Okiedokie. I'm patient. :) Okay, so you will see the party but they don't seem to hear you. And you can see Flora and her mouth was moving but you can't hear what she said. Did I hear garland? Yes. You can hear KK too. *** I'm lookin for Flora! I'll be okay! I thought I saw something maybe! * Garland rushes back over to the rest of them. Remember that the silver path is very narrow. * KenKen wavers. "I.... do you think I should go after her, if I have something like 'Find the Silver Path'?" * Garland stops next to KK then. Actually, Elyria was behind you. [Oh... then next to her. :) Eeeeven better.] Letch. * Elyria tilts her head. "KenKen, can you still see the knife? And Flora? You were the one who originally saw the knife..." [/me drops a note in the ST's window] * Garland looks down at KK and frowns, then shouts after Bunny. "Bunny, what did you see??" "Can't YOU?" Everyone can roll perception difficulty 9, please. *** Botch. XD Great. Okay, so you see a great big chimerical spider sliding down a gauzy looking curtain that is between the party and Bunny. You are dead certain that spider will kill Bunny if nobody does anything. *** * KenKen screams like a girl. "I HATE SPIDERS!" * Garland gets his crossbow out when KK screams. Quick work, Garland. * KenKen is pointing at a spot between them and bunny. * Garland looks where KK is pointing. *** ...woohoo. Got four. So I see Bunny? No spider? Unless you botch. You see Bunny. No spider. Bunny is, however behind a gauzy screen or curtain or something. You can see her opening her mouth as if she is saying something but you can't hear her. Can I look where KenKen's pointing and try to see if I see anything? Definition to the curtain, etc? You can try again. Same as before. Keep trying to see the spider using the same dice pool and your special abilities, but up the difficulty by one each time from six. So having hit six successes, two of them 10s, I see a spider? Nope. So I see no spider. :D Okay! Right. You are dead certain there is no spider there. *** [no successes.] Okay. You don't see or hear anything where Bunny disappeared. [okay...] This is so important to you, Garland, you will be squinting like mad, trying to see Bunny. Right? [Yes.] So you can roll perception + alertness again, diff 7. [2 successes.] Again, diff 8. [3 successes!] Wow. Okay, you do see Bunny. You notice that her mouth is moving as if she's calling to the party on the silver path. You can also see Flora, behind Bunny, and she seems to be talking too, but no sound. You think there is a second gauzy curtain between her and Flora. *** OK, ST, here's one for you. How does the OTHER dagger, the nasty one in the special sheath, interact with the fabric of the Dreaming that is enveloping Flora? You can see Bunny. That's the first thing. Do you draw the nasty one? I will call out to Bunny. Now that I have the idea, I will draw the dagger if I cannot find another way back to the party, or if the 'gauziness' gets worse. But first, call out to Bunny, "Hey Bunny! Over here!" I will try to get to her, as she is not on the path. Bunny has her back to you. Still, I will try to approach her and get her attention. I will NOT draw the nasty dagger if I am close to any of my buddies, especially if they are off the path. Okay. To sum up, you will not be able to be heard by Bunny but you will be able to see her. OK, am I still about a hundred feet away from her, too, and unable to approach her? I believe I do hear the party, so I will jump up and down as I try to approach Bunny. *** * Elyria frowns. "I only see Bunny - however, it's like there's a curtain between us." She steps forward, not quite off the silver path but right to the very edge. "KenKen, are you sure there's a spider?" * Garland is squinting very hard to see if he can see any of this... * Garland suddenly points, "I can see them too! ... looks like they're... tryin' to say something." "Flora, Bunny! Can you hear us? ... jump up and down if you can hear us!" Highly intelligent, Garland. Give yourself a point of WP if you have lost any. * Bunny jumps up and down. :P * Flora is sort-of detected off in the distance jumping * KenKen screams. "SOMEONE DO SOMETHING, THE, IT'S -- BUNNY!" * Bunny looks at Kenken, confused. * Garland nearly jumps as KK screams again, "What?? What is it?" Looking from KK to Bunny and back again. * KenKen is pointing desperately at over her head. ....runs off the path, drawing his hammer. [We are so doomed.] "KENKEN!" * Bunny looks up? [... finally, we are alone. *pounces on the Sidhe*] [*cracks up*] * ST roars with laughter. [You BASTARD!] [Mwahahaha!] [XDDDDDD] [* Bunny POUTS] [ST, there is a question in private box] *** Do I see anything wrong with Bunny, or near her? Hmmm. Roll perception difficulty 10. I SO botch! You are SO certain there is a chimerical spider and a chimerical snake, one coming at Bunny (the snake, along the ground) and one coming at you (the spider, down the curtain. *** "There's no spider, Kenken! I'm positive of it! What-" Elyria cuts off when KenKen charges off the path. "What is he /seeing/?" she finishes after a moment, looking at Garland. "All I see is Bunny, trying to talk yet I can't hear her..." So, what you gonna do, Flora? KenKen? Garland? Bunny? Elyria? * KenKen wants to attack the spider over Bunny's head! * Garland wants to swear, but instead shouts to Bunny and Flora, "Are you able to get back on the path??" Okay, so the two excellent fighters are on a silver path, and the rest of you are not? Okay, here's the info. There is no silver path any more. [ST, interesting question in private box] *** OK, I'll beat the shit out of the spider, first, with my bo, jumping up and down in true chop-sockey fashion while I do it. Hyeeeeyah! One handed bo work? Is that a specialty? no, I didn't want to use the 'knife' as I didn't know anything about it. So it was just tucked away. I will hang on to the 'stick' for a while, just in case. I don't think so. As in, I don't hang on to the stick, or I didn't switch weapons? You said you picked up the "knife" AND so it is picked up. You didn't say you tucked it away. You did say you pulled out the nasty dagger so it is pulled out. You didn't say you put the dagger away. You said you wouldn't use it unless it was necessary. So I count two things, two hands, no bo. OK, OK. At this point the spider is gone, and the snakes are not attacking, so I put all weapons away. I can fight bare handed anyway. *** You are all in the Dreaming away from the clearing and not on a silver path. There are chimerical snakes coming at you. They do not seem to be in a hurry. Most are sort of well, just sliding down gauzy curtains at various people. Or, rather, hanging there, different levels, different gauzy curtains. Every single one of you is separated from every other one of you, except for Garland and Elyria. Besides the snakes, there are ropes, dangling down various gauzy curtains. Knots have been made at various intervals. * BunnyB holds very still. o.o Because that's what big sis told her to do when dealing with snakes! ... But then again, big sis would always take care of the snakes while Bunny was holding still... * Garland trains his crossbow at the nearest snake. "What the -hell- is all this...?" * Flora2 thinks she has a spider, but whacks at it anyway with her bo. Ropes? Like in gym class! Those of you who saw a spider are infinitely relieved to see the spider is no more. Flora is astonished that she is holding a stick instead of a dagger. O...kaaaaayyyyy.... And the one snake on the ground has vanished. * KenKen goes into fighting stance, watching the nearest snake warily. This wasn't supposed to happen! [game off]
